Account (an unfinished work in progress)

At the end of 2020, I began writing “1, 2, 3…” on a long sheet of white paper (the remains of a roll in my studio). When the sheet was full, I began another. When I completed the seventh sheet, reaching a count of over 85,000, I began to ask myself, what is Account? Is it more than just numbers on a page? Is it a record of the loss and emptiness I felt when I began? Will I ever finish the count?
